A car free business
090910_145015

I realised that I mentioned this on the first web site in 2005. Of course car ownership has increased a lot since then so it probably seems even more unusual today. My business still has an environmental impact when I sell a new bike so I’ll resist using the ‘g’ word here to describe Laid Back.

The idea of being without a car in Edinburgh is of course a business advantage as the roads are full anyway. If I do have to move larger stuff then I can choose
www.citycouriers.co.uk/ Or www.villagetrike.co.uk/

Or if I want some upright cycling, then I use ChangingPace’s Burrows 8Freight shown above.

Over half my customers arrive by car. Others are on foot (but have often flown a distance). So my environmental impact is complex and the advent of mobile technology has maybe increased travel for some people.

The business is easy to reach on foot, bike or
41 bus. There is a map on The Bicycle Work’s homepage.

I am a supporter of
www.transformscotland.org.uk/
I am also a member the Royal Scottish Geographical Society www.rsgs.org/

Our main family summer holiday usually involves trains, ferries and bikes. I fly to Amsterdam generally once a year. We do have a
NorfolkLine ferry to Zeebrugge from Edinburgh which I can use on longer trips to Belgium and The Netherlands.
